Syuri Challenges Saya Kamitani for Wrestle Kingdom 20
At Stardom’s Crimson Nightmare event, Syuri issued a challenge that sets up a major title match for Wrestle Kingdom 20.
Saya Kamitani successfully retained both the World of Stardom Championship and the STRONG Women’s Championship against Momo Watanabe in the main event held Monday at the Ota Ward City Gymnasium. After the match, Syuri, who had competed earlier, confronted Kamitani and challenged her to a match on January 4.
Double Title Match Announcement
The challenge is for a Double Title Match at the Tokyo Dome during Wrestle Kingdom 20, with Kamitani defending the STRONG Women’s title and Syuri defending the IWGP Women’s title.
Syuri recently won the IWGP Women’s title at King of Pro Wrestling from Sareee and has yet to defend the championship.
The two competitors have met twice before: Syuri defeated Kamitani in July 2021 during the 5Star Grand Prix, and they later wrestled to a draw the same year.
Upcoming Matches Before Wrestle Kingdom
Before their Wrestle Kingdom clash, Kamitani will defend the World of Stardom Championship against Saori Anou at Dream Queendom on December 29. This event will take place at Ryogoku Kokugikan and is the promotion’s annual year-end show.
Title Change at Crimson Nightmare
Konami ended her 309-day title reign by defeating Starlight Kid to win the Wonder of Stardom Championship at the Crimson Nightmare event.
Starlight Kid had won the championship at last December’s Dream Queendom show by defeating Natsupoi, and this victory marks Konami’s first singles title in Stardom.
