Amid speculation that she might pursue a presidential run in response to President Trump’s lack of support for her Senate campaign, Marjorie Taylor Greene offered unexpected praise for former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The shift marks a significant departure from her earlier harsh criticism of the longtime Democratic leader.
"Well, my reaction is I believe in term limits," Greene joked when asked about the retirement of the 85-year-old Pelosi, who spent 38 years in Congress.
Greene went on to acknowledge Pelosi’s achievements, saying she respected the Democrat’s effectiveness and leadership during her tenure in the House.
"I will praise Nancy Pelosi. She had an incredible career for her party. I served under her speakership in my first term of Congress, and I'm very impressed at her ability to get things done," Greene admitted.
The Georgia congresswoman contrasted Pelosi’s record with what she described as her own party’s shortcomings.
"I wish we could get things done for our party, like Nancy Pelosi was able to deliver for her party. So, I wish her well in her retirement, but I would like to see people exit Washington a lot sooner rather than wait until they're 80."
These remarks stand in stark contrast to Greene’s 2019 statement, when she called Pelosi a "traitor to our country" and accused her of treason.
Greene’s unexpected praise for Pelosi signals a rhetorical shift, suggesting both political repositioning and frustration with her own party’s leadership.
