‘Melrose Place’: Grant Show Makes Blunt Confession About Season 1

‘Melrose Place’: Grant Show Reflects on Season 1

Grant Show, known for playing Jake Hanson, candidly shared his thoughts about the first season of the ’90s drama Melrose Place. During the November 3 episode of the Still Here Hollywood With Steve Kmetko podcast, Show, 63, discussed the show's early challenges with host Steve Kmetko, 72.

Initial Struggles of the Series

Show acknowledged that the series initially struggled to find its rhythm. “Well, the first season was really touch and go,” he said. “I don’t think any of us felt really confident. We felt pretty good because it was [executive producer] Aaron [Spelling], but our ratings were not very good.”

“The show wasn’t very good, I don’t think. So it was the second season, and it took off and when it did take off, it took off like a rocket.”

Memorable Cast Dynamics

When asked about the most engaging castmates, Show praised Heather Locklear, who played Amanda Woodward. “Heather just has her own unique style and personality. She really is iconic.”

He also expressed fondness for working with Daphne Zuniga, who portrayed Jo Reynolds, Jake Hanson’s on-again, off-again love interest. Show commented, “There was some kismet that happened with that cast.”

Summary

Grant Show openly described the rocky start of Melrose Place but highlighted how the series quickly rose to popularity and celebrated the dynamic chemistry among its key cast members.
