On 3 November 2025, governments, civil society, and international partners gathered in Doha to focus on practical solutions addressing urgent global challenges such as rising hunger, poverty, inequality, and climate-related instability.
The event included the Doha Solutions Forum for Social Development and the first leaders’ meeting of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, both held alongside the Second World Summit for Social Development.
President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock emphasized a shift from merely recognizing problems to implementing effective actions. She stated, “Too often we face situations where we have no clear solution, no answer to the suffering we see, and it is heartbreaking. Or we have the solution [but] we are either unable or unwilling to do what needs to be done, which is frustrating.”
She added, “Today is different: we are here to avoid falling into those traps, to learn from each other; to benefit from good ideas; to join forces; and to live up to our common principles.”
The Doha gatherings underline a collective commitment to move beyond promises and take decisive, collaborative steps to meet pressing social and environmental challenges worldwide.
