A woman in Southern California was reportedly removed from a Gold’s Gym following a viral locker room confrontation involving a transgender person. The incident sparked widespread debate online, prompting fitness influencer Joey Swoll to weigh in.
Singer Tish Hyman said she was undressed inside the women’s locker room when she noticed a naked trans person behind her. She described being startled and calling the person “sir,” which quickly escalated into a verbal exchange.
“Gold’s Gym, grown men with big dicks in the women’s locker room, and that’s why I’m getting kicked out and I want to make sure the girls know,” Hyman said.
Hyman recounted what happened next, expressing confusion rather than anger at first.
“I was naked. I was drying up, oiling up, and I turn around, and there’s a man in the locker room. So, of course, I’m shocked, I thought maybe I missed a sign, workers working, so I just said, sir... I faced him and said sir, and he goes, ‘You can’t tell me nothing, I’m a woman.’ I started screaming and asking for help.”
On June 6, 2025, fitness advocate Joey Swoll addressed the situation on social media, emphasizing that women should not be labeled as transphobic for wanting safety and comfort in locker room spaces.
The viral encounter has fueled broader debate over gym policies and privacy in shared facilities. Online users remain divided over who was at fault and how such incidents should be handled in the future.
This case highlights growing tensions over locker room privacy and inclusivity, showing how quickly individual experiences can evolve into cultural flashpoints.
