Alberta’s Rocky View County Issues Fire Advisory Amid Dry Conditions
Although Alberta’s official fire season ends on Friday, persistent dry weather has led to new fire advisories in the southern part of the province.

Rocky View County has declared a moderate fire risk due to dry and windy conditions on both its east and west sides, according to the county’s website.
Statements from Fire Authorities
“This is definitely a period of season where honestly the weather can change very rapidly,” said Rocky View County Deputy Fire Chief Bill Messner.
Messner noted that dry conditions have already caused several grass fires in the past week, with up to three occurring in a single day. Some of these fires may have started from human actions, such as discarded lit cigarettes.
“Please use the proper receptacles. Please don't flick them out of the window. That definitely can cause a lot of issues that way,” Messner urged.
Fire Ban and Restrictions
Along with the advisory, the county has imposed a fire ban, temporarily suspending all permits for fireworks and outdoor burning. Exceptions are allowed for barbecues, camp stoves, and indoor fireplaces.
Messner indicated there is no definite timeline for lifting the advisory, but it may remain active for at least another week as dry conditions continue.
