A Calgary man has been charged following a Cochrane RCMP investigation linked to a suspected overdose death earlier this month in the Mînî Thnî area of the Stoney Nakoda Nations.
Randall Arsenault, 58, faces charges of trafficking a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking, according to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Arsenault was arrested in Calgary on October 29 after a joint investigation by the Cochrane RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Calgary Police Service’s Gang Suppression Team. Officers seized approximately 69.5 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine at the time of arrest.
The investigation started in early October when Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected overdose death in Mînî Thnî. The CRU proceeded to identify the source of the drugs involved, which led to the arrest of the Calgary man.
