Fog Turns to Snowfall in Calgary

Friday morning in Calgary began shrouded in fog but soon transformed into light snowfall. According to reports, snow began falling in the city’s downtown around 8:30 a.m., moving from the north toward the south.

The fog advisory from Environment and Climate Change Canada noted reduced visibility and mentioned the chance of rain or freezing rain before conditions shifted fully to snow.

“Precipitation was in the forecast for the morning hours, but our temperature stayed just cool enough to keep most of that mix as snow. Once it’s gone, it’s pretty much gone, and as we enter the 9 o’clock hour, we can expect most of that to fully back away,” explained 660 NewsRadio meteorologist Kevin Stanfield.

Stanfield added that with a high of about 3°C expected later in the day, newly fallen snow would likely melt quickly. Drivers in Calgary are advised to exercise caution on slick roads and stay tuned to 660 NewsRadio or CityNews 24/7 for updates on traffic and weather conditions.
