Zarine Khan, wife of actor-filmmaker Sanjay Khan, passed away at 81 on Friday. She gave up her modeling career to marry Sanjay and remained devoted to him despite rumors of his affair with Zeenat Aman.
Zarine and Sanjay were married for nearly 60 years, experiencing many highs and lows. They had four children together: Simone, Farah, Sussanne, and Zayed.
Their love story began like a fairy tale. Sanjay became a star in the 1960s, but their relationship faced challenges when rumors about his affair with Zeenat Aman surfaced. Zarine stood by him throughout and they stayed together until the end.
“We gazed into each other’s eyes and in that moment, I knew hers were the eyes of someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,”
Sanjay recalled meeting Zarine for the first time when she was 13 and he was 18 in Juhu, Mumbai. He proposed to her immediately after their conversation. She said she would agree if she still felt the same way after a year. Sanjay admired her maturity and she quickly became his confidante. They dated for six years while he was still finding his way.
Zarine Khan’s unwavering loyalty and sacrifice defined her long marriage with Sanjay Khan amidst personal challenges and public scrutiny.
