The broadcaster described the alterations to her daytime ITV program as "seismic." Lorraine Kelly has addressed the significant revisions to her show amid ITV's budget cuts.
The show will now air on a seasonal basis. Good Morning Britain will occupy the usual 9am to 10am slot for 22 weeks annually. Lorraine, 65, will present during the remaining 30 weeks, including Fridays, which were previously hosted by stand-ins Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard.
As a result, Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard will no longer be hosting the show.
ITV has also shortened the show's duration to just 30 minutes daily, airing from 9:30am to 10am.
“I was disappointed, of course I was. This is the world that we live in now. Things have to change, I mean, I’ve been through so many regime changes in my life.”
“For me, this is just another one, but it’s seismic. The thing that has upset me the most is the fact that we’ve got this great team, and obviously, that’s not going to be in place next year because jobs will go.”
“Hopefully I’ll be able to hang on to some of these amazing people – that’s my aim.”
Kelly spoke candidly about her disappointment during an appearance on BBC 4’s Desert Island Discs with host Lauren Laverne this week.
Despite the drastic changes, Lorraine remains hopeful about retaining part of her team.
