Gabagool & Pickleball: Soprano’s Star Joins CCARC Event

NEW BRITAIN — The New Britain CCARC hosted a lively pickleball event this past weekend, drawing more than a dozen participants for a morning full of fun. The gathering took place at Club Pickleball inside Meriden Mall, welcoming attendees of all ages with special needs.

The club generously provided the courts and equipment. The Center for Community Resources focuses on individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities and serves the Slater Road area and its surroundings. The nonprofit is nearing its 80th year of service.

Engaging Activities and Special Guests

The Beautiful Lives Project director, Anthony Gionfriddo, oversaw the event as participants eagerly took to the courts, their faces lighting up with excitement to try the rapidly growing sport.

“What a fantastic morning as these folks have a chance to be part of this sport, and you can see the energy they all have and can’t wait to get on the courts. This is their time to shine, look at those smiles,” said Gionfriddo.

Adding to the excitement, Gionfriddo introduced a special guest instructor: Joseph R. Gannascoli, known for his role as Vito on The Sopranos. Gannascoli shared his pickleball expertise on the court and later joined participants for a meet and greet with photo signings.
