Kazakhstan to Join Abraham Accords

Washington D.C. – The Government of Kazakhstan announced its plan to join the Abraham Accords, ahead of a meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.

President Trump confirmed the decision in a post on Truth Social, calling it “a major step forward in building bridges across the world.” He noted that a formal signing ceremony would take place soon to make the accession official.

New Member in the Abraham Accords

Kazakhstan will join the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, Israel, and the United States within the Abraham Accords framework. This addition marks a key diplomatic milestone as Kazakhstan becomes the first Central Asian country—and the only member outside the Middle East or North Africa besides the U.S.—to participate in the initiative.

The expansion indicates the Accords’ growing influence beyond their original regional and political scope, extending into Central Asia.

Significance of Kazakhstan's Inclusion

Kazakhstan’s participation sends a strong message from a Muslim-majority nation supporting peaceful normalization with Israel. By joining, Astana strengthens the Accords’ credibility in the Islamic world, showing that constructive relations with Israel can coexist with adherence to Islamic values and regional cooperation.
