Alan Carr admitted he has temporarily moved to the United States before the finale of the Celebrity Traitors, citing that “everyone hates him” after his behavior on the show sparked controversy.
The comedian, 49, revealed that his close friend, Paloma Faith, was not pleased with how he acted on the BBC reality program. Despite this, Carr has gained new online fame for his sarcastic wit and cheerful attitude.
Seeking a break from public criticism, Carr traveled to Orlando, Florida, with his nephew and niece. He explained during a chat with radio presenters Olly Murs and Mark Wright at their pop-up studio that the backlash had become overwhelming.
“I'm the most hated man in the UK. I've had to come here to Orlando to get away from it. Everyone hates me!”
He humorously added that the pressures of being a “Traitor” were exhausting, joking about his shrinking Christmas card list.
“I just needed to get away because it's stressful murdering every day. My Christmas card list is getting smaller and smaller.”
Murs suggested Carr embrace the theme and wear a Traitors-style cape at Universal Studios, specifically at the Harry Potter World section. Carr replied playfully:
“I've come here for a break!”
He added that he might ride the famous Volcano Bay water slide holding a Traitors lantern, keeping his humor intact even while on holiday.
Alan Carr joked about escaping to Orlando after becoming one of the most talked-about figures on Celebrity Traitors, using humor to defuse the backlash surrounding his on-screen antics.
