During the press tour for the final season of Stranger Things, a viral report alleging that Millie Bobby Brown accused co-star David Harbour of bullying on set sparked controversy. Despite these rumors, Brown and Harbour appeared together smiling at the season five premiere in Los Angeles.
When questioned about the allegations, co-creator Ross Duffer, standing beside his brother Matt, said:
“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Director and executive producer Shawn Levy also addressed the issue, emphasizing the importance of a respectful work environment. When asked how the production handles bullying complaints and ensures safety, Levy responded:
“At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
Levy further described some stories from the viral report as “wildly inaccurate.”
The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy reaffirm their commitment to a safe, respectful workplace, dismissing recent bullying claims between Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour as unfounded rumors.
