Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of Stranger Things, have addressed recent claims of bullying and harassment involving stars Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s premiere, Ross Duffer was asked about the bullying allegations. Standing beside his brother Matt, he stated:
“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal onset matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Shawn Levy, director and executive producer of Stranger Things, explained how the production addresses bullying complaints and prioritizes safety. He said:
“At the end of the day, that’s the job.” “You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
Levy added, “I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to… there’s so much noise around it.”
The creators and producers emphasize their commitment to a respectful and safe environment for the cast, dismissing many of the allegations as exaggerated or false.
Author's summary: The Stranger Things team assures fans they prioritize cast safety and take bullying claims seriously, while expressing skepticism about the accuracy of some reports.
