SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Elder Gérald Caussé has been called to serve in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His calling took place on Thursday and was performed by President Dallin H. Oaks together with the First Presidency and members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Before this appointment, Caussé served as the Presiding Bishop of the Church. He has frequently addressed youth and members around the world, including a devotional held in Versailles, France, on July 21, 2024.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been in the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”
According to the Church, Apostles are "special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world. They also engage in significant administrative responsibilities, overseeing the operation and development of a global Church."
Caussé, 62, was born in Bordeaux, France, and has long served in various leadership positions within the Church.
