After two decades as the beloved weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from this position. Her final weather broadcast will air on Tuesday, 18 November.
Livinia joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the 9News Melbourne weather presenter role in 2004. The decision to leave this role comes as her two sons enter the senior years of high school.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Although Livinia will be leaving her nightly weather presenting job, she will maintain her presence on Nine’s popular travel shows.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she reflected.
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
“I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
Livinia Nixon ends her role as 9News Melbourne weather presenter to focus on family but remains active with Nine’s travel programs.
