In a notable development for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gérald Caussé has been appointed as the newest apostle, marking an important step in church leadership. With his strong experience in financial management and dedication to environmental stewardship, Caussé offers new perspectives to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Born in Bordeaux, France, Gérald Caussé is the church's 15th presiding bishop and the third person to hold this position who was born outside the United States. Since October 2015, he has overseen the church’s real estate, financial, investment, and humanitarian efforts.
Caussé’s international background, with French as his native language, adds unique diversity to the leadership, which also includes two other European apostles: Dieter F. Uchtdorf of Germany and Patrick Kearon of Britain.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been in the center of my life.”
This firm conviction in Christ forms the foundation for his new calling as an apostle.
As presiding bishop, Caussé has supervised the church’s large-scale financial assets, which have drawn significant public interest in recent years. His approach emphasizes transparency, accountability, and a balance between faith and responsible resource management.
Gérald Caussé’s appointment as an apostle reflects the LDS Church’s growing global perspective, blending spiritual devotion with effective leadership and financial stewardship.
