Channel Nine is facing change as beloved weathergirl Livinia Nixon announces her departure from 9News Melbourne after 20 years. Known for her bubbly presence, Livinia is stepping back to prioritize her family.
Having delivered weather forecasts to Australian homes for two decades, Livinia confirmed she is leaving her daily weather role to focus on what matters most—her family.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family,” she said, mentioning her two sons, Henry and Ted.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
Livinia began with Nine in 1997, initially gaining attention through Hey Hey It’s Saturday, alongside game show host Daryl Somers. Although stepping away from weather presenting, she will remain with Nine, continuing her roles on popular travel programs.
“I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards,” Livinia confirmed.
After two decades as a familiar weather presenter, Livinia Nixon chooses to step back and focus on family while maintaining her presence on Nine’s travel shows.
