Bradley Beal's return to Phoenix ended in a disappointing 115–102 loss for the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. This game was Beal's first visit to Phoenix since his contract buyout with the Suns last July. The attempt to build a long-term "big three" featuring Beal, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker had collapsed.
Beal posted one of his lowest scoring outputs in his 14-year NBA career, managing only five points, one rebound, and one assist while shooting just 14.3% from the field. His return was met with boos from the Phoenix crowd. The Clippers played without key stars James Harden and Kawhi Leonard.
Phoenix dominated the third quarter, scoring 40 points to take an 88–74 lead going into the final quarter. Though the Clippers tried to rally, the Suns maintained control to secure the victory.
“The Clippers fell to 3-5 on the season, 0-3 on the road, while the Suns improved to 4-5 at home.”
Both teams have split their meetings this season and will meet again on Saturday, with the Clippers hosting the Suns eager to take the series lead.
Bradley Beal's difficult return to Phoenix highlighted the Clippers' struggles without key players, as the Suns secured a decisive win fueled by a strong third quarter.
