The Las Vegas Raiders have faced challenges in their first season with quarterback Geno Smith, but recently he has been improving their performance. In Week 9, Smith led the team in a close overtime loss to the Jaguars, throwing three touchdowns to tight end Brock Bowers. His better play has made the Raiders more competitive.
However, during the Week 10 "Thursday Night Football" game against the Denver Broncos, Smith sustained an injury. In the fourth quarter, with the Broncos leading 10-7, Smith scrambled on first down before being tackled by Denver’s Nik Bonitto near his right knee. He stayed on the ground in visible pain after a second hit, then was taken to the medical tent.
Smith was able to return to the field but appeared to be limping and in discomfort. Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett was brought in as Smith struggled to continue.
"Smith remained on the ground in some pain after being tackled, then went to the blue medical tent. He returned to the game, but was in noticeable pain and limping around."
The Raiders ultimately lost the game 10-7. Smith was nearing 100 passing yards in a defensive contest before the injury.
Geno Smith's injury disrupted the Raiders' promising momentum despite his recent strong performances, contributing to their narrow loss in Week 10.
