New Leadership Deal for World Zionist Organization
A fresh agreement, still pending finalization, proposes a leadership rotation between Rabbi Doron Perez and the current head of the World Zionist Organization (WZO), Yaakov Hagoel.
Collapse of Previous Arrangement
The original deal collapsed following the unexpected nomination of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son, Yair Netanyahu, for a high-ranking position within the WZO.
The nomination of Yair Netanyahu for a board position at the WZO "crossed a red line for many" and caused the opposition party Yesh Atid to withdraw from the agreement.
This withdrawal disrupted the World Zionist Congress and ended the previous compromise.

- The position Yair was nominated for—the head of the WZO’s Diaspora and Information Department—includes an office, a car, and a salary comparable to a government minister's.
