Former India batter Robin Uthappa shared his thoughts on Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling in the second T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He suggested that Bumrah’s rare off day was linked to him trying too hard to take wickets.
Speaking on Star Sports, Uthappa noted that Bumrah often loses his rhythm and discipline when he becomes desperate for wickets. This tendency was noticeable during India’s modest total defense of 125 runs on Friday.
"When we were bowling after scoring 125, the start was very important. If we had picked up two or three wickets in the first three or four overs, the game could have been closer because we have quality spinners in the middle overs."
Uthappa expressed that India’s bowlers, including Bumrah, were trying too hard early on, leading to some wayward deliveries.
Uthappa emphasized that Bumrah’s occasional waywardness is often a result of his eagerness to strike quickly, which can disrupt his usual composed style.
