A neighborhood in Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire, England, won a collective prize of £1 million (about $1.3 million) in the People's Postcode Lottery's Millionaire Street draw.
The winning postal code was AL9 6PT. The prize was shared among seven residents who held tickets through the lottery's monthly subscription. Each winner received approximately £83,333 ($109,000).
Samesh Kumari, a retired fashion firm owner, received one of the largest shares: £249,999 ($328,000). He held three tickets, which he acquired in memory of his late mother, Chanchal Kumari, just four months ago.
"I think mum would be really proud," Samesh said. "I'm not sure I did, but she was right. I've only been playing for about four months. To have won so quickly is amazing. When I signed up, I was thinking about mum. This is extra special."
Samesh has dedicated his winnings to the memory of Chanchal Kumari.
