Sinner claims his first Paris Masters crown and a return to world number one

Jannik Sinner Wins First Paris Masters Title and Reclaims World Number One

Jannik Sinner captured his first Paris Masters 1000 crown on Sunday after defeating Félix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. The 24-year-old Italian prevailed 6-4, 7-6 in just under two hours, earning his fifth title of the season.

With this victory, Sinner gained 1000 ATP points, enough to surpass Carlos Alcaraz and return to the number one position in the ATP world rankings, which are updated on Monday.

"It's been an incredible week and an incredible run in the past couple of months," said Sinner as he received the winner’s trophy from French tennis legend Yannick Noah.
"You're always trying to improve as a player and seeing these results at this high level of tennis, I'm very happy to share them with you. It's a very, very special day. So thank you so much."

The match opened ideally for Sinner, who broke Auger-Aliassime in the very first game and remained unshaken on serve to secure the first set in 44 minutes at the Paris La Défense Arena before a crowd of 17,500.

In a tense second set, Auger-Aliassime fought off two break points early and took a narrow lead. His resilience shone again in the seventh game when he saved three more break points to move ahead 4–3, but Sinner’s precision ultimately clinched the match in a tiebreak.
