Channel 10 is bringing back the nostalgic feel of the early 2000s with its new season of Big Brother. The updated season aims to revive the spirit of the show's original years while introducing a familiar setting and structure.
The house has returned to its original home at Dreamworld, where the first 11 seasons were filmed between 2001 and 2014.
“The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right,” said new host Mel Tracina in an interview with news.com.au.
As the new face of Big Brother and a Nova radio personality, Tracina shared that the show will go back to basics featuring live nominations and live evictions, much like the earlier seasons.
“This year there’s no return of Big Brother Up Late (or Uncut),” Tracina said. “We’re keeping it PG.”
Although fans will be able to watch a 24/7 live stream from the house, all footage will be moderated to ensure it meets broadcast standards.
“Again, that will be moderated to make sure that everything we broadcast is up to broadcast standards,” she added.
This decision may disappoint many Gen X and Millennial fans who once secretly watched the adults-only version of the show, known for its late-night scandals and unfiltered conversations.
Mel Tracina confirmed that while Big Brother returns to Dreamworld with a nostalgic early-2000s vibe, the risqué Uncut format will stay in the past to maintain a PG tone.
