The National Transport Authority (NTA) was requested to address transport issues in Clondalkin following complaints raised at a recent community forum. Residents continue facing problems due to unreliable public transport services.
Councillor Darragh Adelaide highlighted the impact of these transport issues on local residents. He said:
[translate:“The 13 coming through Clondalkin was listed as one of the most cancelled buses in Dublin. These are issues that are affecting a lot of people, particularly older people who, if a bus is cancelled, they’re left there waiting in the cold. Same with people with disabilities, people with young kids, but also people trying to get to work.”]
Councillor Eoin Ó Broin noted that the bus sometimes skips the Bawnogue area, which is currently undergoing works. He explained:
[translate:“What can happen is that the bus skips Bawnogue in order to get back on track because when they’re late, they get fined by the NTA.”]
These disruptions are causing significant inconvenience for commuters in Clondalkin, especially vulnerable groups.
Author's summary: Persistent bus cancellations and route skips in Clondalkin are causing hardship for commuters, highlighting urgent need for NTA intervention.
