Craig Melvin Makes Surprising Confession During 'Jenna & Friends' Debut

This week, several hosts from the 'Today' show are stepping into cohosting roles on 'Jenna & Friends.' Craig Melvin’s first appearance alongside Jenna Bush Hager brought humor, surprise, and candid moments.

A Rocky but Funny Start

Melvin joined Bush Hager at the fourth hour of the 'Today' desk on Monday, November 3. Early in the episode, he commented on the setup.

“This is a nice set,”

he said, before admitting,

“You know, I’ve never seen the show.”

The unexpected confession made Bush Hager laugh and reply,

“That is so rude.”

Melvin quickly explained the reason behind his unfamiliarity with the program.

“Well, because usually we’re just getting off. I’m usually in transit, but this is nice. I could probably watch some of it.”

Words of Praise for Jenna Bush Hager

At the start of the episode, Melvin also took time to commend Bush Hager for her strong run with 'Jenna & Friends' following Hoda Kotb’s departure from 'Today' in January. Over the months, Bush Hager has rotated through a number of celebrity cohosts.

“What you have managed to do over the last few months on this show, from just a purely broadcasting perspective — as the kids would say, real recognizes real. To be able to sit next to someone different every day or two and do this, that’s a feat.”
