Creighton University (0-1, 0-0 Big East) lost to South Dakota State (1-0, 0-0 Summit League) with a final score of 62-78.
Freshman Ava Zediker made a strong impact, scoring 11 points in the third quarter and finishing with a team-high 17 points. Despite her effort, Creighton couldn't overcome South Dakota State.
The first quarter saw both teams feeling each other out. Creighton led briefly 7-4 (8:16) after senior Kennedy Townsend made a three-pointer. The Bluejays held a 13-11 lead with 3:49 remaining, but the Jackrabbits scored seven straight points to take an 18-13 lead at the quarter's end.
Early in the second quarter, down 24-15, Creighton regained momentum behind Allison Heathcock, who hit a three-pointer to help the Bluejays start closing the gap.
