Improving Sharks will be without one of their leaders vs. Kraken

Sharks Will Be Without William Eklund Against Kraken

William Eklund will miss his second consecutive game Wednesday as the San Jose Sharks face the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. The Sharks aim to extend their season-long point streak to four games despite his absence.

Injury Details and Team Impact

Eklund, tied for second on the Sharks with 11 points, did not travel to Seattle due to a lower-body injury. This injury also sidelined him during Sunday’s 3-2 shootout loss at home against the Detroit Red Wings. Coach Ryan Warsofsky described Eklund as day-to-day but "trending in the right direction."

“He has had the injury for over a week,” said Warsofsky. “We’re not sure yet if he will need to be placed on injured reserve, as we have games against Winnipeg Jets on Friday and Florida Panthers on Saturday.”

Eklund’s Recent Performance

The 23-year-old forward was showcasing some of the best hockey of his NHL career late in the previous month. Over the 23-30 game stretch, he recorded four goals and five assists. Alongside Alexander Wennberg and winger Philipp Kurashev, Eklund formed the Sharks' most reliable line, contributing both offensively and by effectively checking opponents’ top lines.

In the Sharks' recent 3-2 overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche, Eklund logged nearly 21 minutes of ice time, demonstrating his importance to the team.
